I'm honored to be among your friends. It's always been that way for me. We've been through some "challenging"times, yes? And more than survived. so here's my go-to response: lunch! I've been frustrated not being able to drive, so I'll have to ask you to schlep down this way for a lunch. New Paltz has many fine dining establishments, some that are actually affordable. Pick one, or I'll do it for you. Cheers until then - Jeremiah

I don't know that I've ever read a story before that extended our compassion to the terror and suffering and death of animals in war. WWI was before they had the PTSD diagnosis. But people sure had it. Called it "shell shock," carried by quiet people through their days, through their nightmares, through their whole lives

C.A: yours is among the most moving responses I've ever read. Though I didn't write it, I wish I did. I'm trying to convince the author, my old friend Bert Hoak to open a Substack of his own wish me luck. Jeremiah

This story has a rhythm all its own. It sets the scene and pace and draws you in, moves along and then POW, it takes you up to a whole different level. Like JH, I wish I had written this.
